[Changes in the role of nurses in the management of chronic conditions: a comparative qualitative analysis of registered nurses and nursing assistants].
The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, combined with healthcare professional shortage, makes a reorganization of the healthcare system essential. This qualitative study compares the practices of sixteen nurses (ten registered nurses [RNs] and six advanced practice nurses [APNs]) in the context of chronic disease management. Results reveal two parallel trajectories: that of the RNs, who develop empirical expertise, and that of the APNs, who possess regulatory authority. Long COVID has highlighted this.
