Advancing Access: A practical advocacy toolkit for improving access to NCD medicines, diagnostics and medical devices
Advancing Access is a practical advocacy toolkit developed by the NCD Policy Lab (University of Geneva) and NCD Alliance to support stakeholders working to improve access to NCD medicines, diagnostics and medical devices.
The toolkit helps understand where and why access barriers occur within health systems and identify concrete opportunities for action. Structured around five key steps of the pharmaceutical value chain, selection, regulation, forecasting, procurement and pricing, it combines practical guidance, knowledge checklists, advocacy strategies and a Follow-the-Product barrier analysis to support evidence-based, context-specific advocacy. This resource is intended for national, regional and global NCD and health advocates, as well as âaccess alliesâ, such as health professionals, who want to save and improve lives by addressing access barriers.
The toolkit builds on work initiated through the Hackccess Hackathon, convened in Geneva in June 2025.
